Study Music Tuesday: Questlove – Goodbye Issac

Questlove. My biggest musical idol. I can’t praise him enough. Definitely the sickest drummer in the world and his musical knowledge is absolutely crazy. His interview with Nardwaar showcased his depth of hip hop and the background and influences. If anybody doesn’t know about this guy, he’s the drummer of the Legendary Roots crew. The Roots are possibly my all time favourite group, and was finally lucky enough to see them live at the Adrienne Arsht Centre in Miami last year. They absolutely destroyed it that night and I finally ticked off one of my life ambitions.
Looking into the background of the song, turns out that this was made on the day Issac Hayes died. This was a song made as a tribute to his life by Questlove, Randy Watson and James Poyser.
I hope you like it, and if you haven’t heard this guy before (where are you?) look into his career and The Roots’.
